The Tasmanian Exhibition, staged in Launceston over four months in the summer of 1891-1892, was the biggest event ever to be held in Launceston, attracting some 262,059 visitors. Mr James Brickhill was appointed a Commissioner to the Tasmanian Exhibition and was awarded a gold medal produced by local firm F & W Stewart for his servises.
